KASA to Invest 949.5 Billion Won in 2026 Space R&D

The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) has finalized its 2026 R&D implementation plan, which serves as a detailed technological roadmap for South Korea’s leap into a major space power. The 949.5 billion won budget will be strategically allocated to three core areas: strengthening space transportation, advancing satellite utilization services, and expanding space exploration. A notable highlight is the commencement of the flight model development for the Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV) and the localization of space risk response technologies, such as space debris removal. This represents a strategic shift from simple rocket development to securing active maneuvering and asset protection capabilities in space.
